1.Ecosystem-a biogical community of interacting organisms and their physical environment

2.population-all the inhabitants of a particular town, area, or country

3.community-a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

4.niche-a shallow recess, especially one in a wall to display a statue or other ornament

5.biome-a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat.e.g. forest and tundra.

6.The plants that grow in the tundra biome often grow in clusters to help protect themselves from the severe winter winds.

Five Facts about Tundra by: Cristal Garcia Torres Hello my name is Cristal Garcia Torres and my partner is Destiny Ayala .We are in class 5-1 .Hi my name is Destiny Ayala and my partner is Cristal.

Cristal 5 facts:

# 1Alternate freezing. #2The regions are harsh # 3 Perennially frozen ground.

# 4 People have long history. # 5 The word Tundra means 'barren , treeless land' . Cristal's definitions of the ecosystem:Population - a number of people in a geographic area.Community- a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality.Niche-the position or function of an organism in a community of plants or animals. Biome- a specific environment that's home to living things suited for that place and environment.Ecosystem- all the living things, from plants and animals to microscopic organisms ,that share an environment .

This animal is called a reindeer in Europe and a caribou in North America Ruminant animals are even-toed, cud-chewing, hoofed, usually horned mammals which have a stomach divided into four (occasionally three) compartments. Examples of ruminant mammals are cattle, sheep, goats, deer, and giraffes. Their hooves are large and sharp enabling them to travel across large distances and areas consisting of snow and ice.
Caribou are characterised by having deciduous antlers which are borne by both male and many females. Caribou are also characterised by making long migrations, travelling further North during the summer months for fresh grazing and returning to the more temperate climates of the South in the winter for shelter. The caribou family also includes the elk, moose, reindeer, and deer.

Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. Tundra comes from the Finnish word tunturi, meaning treeless plain. It is noted for its frost-molded landscapes, extremely low temperatures, little precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons. Dead organic material functions as a nutrient pool. The two major nutrients are nitrogen and phosphorus. Nitrogen is created by biological fixation, and phosphorus is created by precipitation. Characteristics of tundra include: # Extremely cold climate # Low biotic diversity # Simple vegetation structure # Limitation of drainage # Short season of growth and reproduction # Energy and nutrients in the form of dead organic material # Large population oscillations * The Tundra BIOMJE * external image fall-tundra-with-mountains_4433.jpg Did you know tundra was the coldest biome of them all!Their are two different types of tundra. *The Arctic Tundra The Arctic Tundra is located on the northern part of the earth. The temperatures average from around -30° F during the winter to 57° F during the summer. The annual precipitation includes the melting snow is at 15 to 25 cm. There are a variety of plants that are able to sustain the cold and they consist of shrubs, sedges, mosses, liverworts, grasses and a variety of flowers. There is also a diverse population of animals that can withstand the cold. They consist of caribou, polar bears, wolves, cod, salmon, falcons, ravens, and much more! The Alpine Tundra is located on different mountains all over the world at high altitudes. The altitudes are so high that trees are not able to grow there. The temperature is just around the same at the arctic tundra except for it gets below freezing during the night. The plants that are able to live in the alpine tundra consist of grasses, shrubs, heath, and sdrawf trees. The animals that are found in the alpine tundra consist of mountain goats, sheep, elk, marmots, birds, and much more! =
