  1. Dr.Kimberly Yates Will Be a Panelist At An Ocean Acidification Round Table We Are Hosting In Miami This Week There She Will Join Other Scientists Florida Elected Officials And Local Buisness People Is Discussing What Ocean Acidification Has In Store For Floridas Marine Life And Its Costal Communities.

2. Dr.blair Witherington Has Worked With The Florida Fish And Wild Life Conservation Commissions Fish And Wildlife Research Institute Since 1992.

3. Further More, crubs might get a double whammy of plastics as researchers confirmed that crabs can also be exposed to plastics the good old fashioned way by eating mussels their primary feed who themselves have been contaminated with plastics as a result of filtering water for their microscopic prey.

4. a research scientists with more than 24 years of experience in sea turtle biology and conservation in addition he has written five books on sea turtles and other natural history subjects

First, the super heated chemicals that comes out of the a called
black smock.Next, they are gases that rise up and heat up the water. Then,
the deep sea vent volcanoes are packed with chemicals and was discovered
int by the Alvin Submarcifule.Last, many animal in there surroundings
depend on them for instance worms but they don’t look like your worm
they look like venis flytrap but without teeth they eat the bacteria like yeti
crabs they use There hairy arms to catch the bacteria for food. This shows
my 5 facts about the deep sea vent and how the environment helps the
animals that live there.

Hello my name is Kevin Vargas and im from class 5-3

Here are five facts about the deep sea vent:
  1. A hydrothermal vent is home to thousand of rare creatures.
  2. In 1977 scientists went to the deepest part of the ocean called the deep sea vent.
  3. A deep sea vent is hydrothermal(hot water)vent formed on the ocean floor when seawater circulates through hot volcanic rocks often located where new oceanic crust is being formed.
  4. White smokers are the cooler cousins of black smokers.
  5. A vent provides a type of bacteria that gives species energy.

A ecosystem is a system of living things that interact with each other and with physical world.
A population is a group of conspecific individuals within a single area.
A community is a group of people who share the same things such as:where they live, work and play.
A habitat is a place where animals or plants live, where they get water, food and shelter.
A niche is the fit of species living under specific enviornmental conditions.
A biome is a large geographic area containing similar plants, animals and climate.

Summary:i learned that the deep sea vent has some creatures that carry light on them.
The animals carry that light to see in the dark and hunt its prey.
I also learned that scientest went to deapest part of the ocean called the deep sea vent,
they discovered this in 1977.I also learned that white smokers are cooler cousins for
the black smokers.

This what the deep sea vent is impacting and getting distroyed.

People are throwing trash in the ocean and is going to the sea floor and animals might get hurt

during the trash is falling in the ocean.

This is what is happening in the deep sea vent that we are throwing trash in the ocean.

images (1).jpeg

These creatures belong in the deep sea vent but there are covered in oil.

indanger vents.jpg

This is how the deep sea vent is getting distroyed.

This is how the trash make's it way to the deep sea vent

and other parts in the ocean.

What is an ecosystem?

Ecosystem ; An ecosystem includes all of the living things like/Plants ,Animals, and Organismes .

In a given an area can communicate with each other also there non living enviorment ; weather ,earth,

sun, soil,climate.

A population is the amount of people living in a country , city , or area.

A community is a group of people working together.

A habbitat is a place where a bunch of animals live.

It provides the animals with food , water ,and shelter.

A biome is a large religon of earth that has life but the climate changes.

Summary; What i learned about the deep sea vent is most creatures carry

light on them. Not all creatures have light but they can still see in the dark.

Most parts of the deep sea vent are always dark.

On the deep sea vent most of the animals in the deep sea vent live close to

hydrothermal vents. The creatures spend most of there time hunting.I also

learned that scientists went to the deep sea vent in 1977 in a submarine.

Ways that kids can safe the deep sea vent?

If the people keep on throwing trash in the ocean the ocean creatures

might think that it is food and will eat it .Another way to save the deep

is to stop polluting the ocean,if they continue polluting the ocean it will

spread to more ocean and the water will turn dirty and other colors like

red, blue, and most animals might not survive during oil spills, and junk

being thrown in the water. This why it is important not to pollute the earth

because we are also killing each other. The best way to save the earth from

being polluted is to stop using oil and pollution. This why is why animals

are dieing because of the pollution we are causing. So this why i think that

should stop. Most of the ocean is being polluted, also the oxegen is being

polluted most of the ocean is being polluted and the oil spreads. And the

air will also get polluted, and the earth will heat up and this is why we have

a lot of hurricanes i the world so this is why i think pollution should stop

and it has to because it is not just the United States it is around the world

Theres china, europe, south america. If pollution dose not stop the plant, water,

air will be polluted so pollution has to stop now!

Why is the deep sea vent important?

1.The deep sea vent is important because the creatures that do not like

the light they need to be somewhere dark and the only dark place in

is the deep sea vent.

2.The deep sea vent is important because the animals that don't belong

there, they need a home just like other animals.

3.Most creatures that don't live in the deep sea vent they still need the

deep sea vent even if they don't live there.

How is the Deep Sea Vent getting distroy?

The deep sea vent is getting distroyed by the pollution

in the surface and oil spills may happen and the oil might

pollute the ocean and it will and the oil will spread and

make it's way to the deep sea vent and then the whole

ocean will be polluted and all the animals will die and

some will get ingered and will die. This why is how the

deep sea vent is getting distroyed by pollution.

Why are the people polluting the ocean?

The people are polluting the ocean because they do not care

about the enviorment and the ecosystems. The people that take the

time to pick up the trash that they see those are people who do care

about the enviorment and do like the earth. The people who throw

trash in the ocean do not care one bit of the earth this is why people

throw trash in the ocean. And this is not just one person it is everyone

because there are oil spills, pollution, people that distroy the ecosystems

the ocean is being full of trash, and getting oil spills and the animals are

getting hurt because of the pollution, for example the trash could trap an

animal inside, and the oil that is being dumped in the ocean is dirting the

ocaen and the animals witch if people did not know that the oil is a type

of chemical that is really dangerus and the animal that gets it on its skin

may die unless a rescue team may find it and cure it but if the oil spreads

the whole ocean may not have not even one creature swimming in it and

we could die because most of the food we eat comes from the ocean and

the water we drink will be all black.Because it is going to be black is that

oil is black and if it goes in the ocean the water will be black.

An image that the water is is being polluted.

This can fell from the surface of the water to the sea floor.

the deep sea vent today.jpg

This is a hydrothermal vent that is dying.

This is how dirty the deep sea looks like, the water is changing color because of pollution.

If a person throws trash in the ocean and said it is just a little can the other people

will say lets do that also plastic bag, water bottles, wood, clothe, rocks, nets, bows,

iron, dirt, and other type of pollution. When oil spreads in the ocean the ocean will

pollute the air then the land.

kids save the ocean.jpg

This kid is trying to clean the ocean.

How can kids save the world?

1.Pay attention to how much water you use.

2.Don't use your car for a very long amount of time.

3.Recycle any plastic you see.

4.Try to be careful of any oil spills.

oil spills.jpg

5.Save any animals that are hurt or have oil in there skin.

6.Any time you see trash in the floor always take the

30 seconds to walk to the trash can

and throw it out.

7.Don't throw any trash in the ocean.(recycle).

8.Try to pick up any trash in the ocean(As much as u can).

9.Look in side of a can that was in the

ocean check for fishes in side.

10.Don't cause a lot of pollution.

Free Research:

The Mariana trench is the biggest trench in the world it is

(10,994 meters) down (36,070 feet) tall, it is located in

south america. Most of the creature are able to survive

down there because of the light it body provides it with.

The Mariana trench is the only trench 10,994 meter's

A Giant-isopod is a creature that lives in the Mariana

trench and it can not swim it walk. Most time it spends it

time eating, it may eat a dead whale and go 4 years with

no food, because it eat huge creatures.Like whales. They

are able to eat something big or small.

Giant Isopod.jpg

A vampire squid is a squid that has thorn's in his tenticles

the tenticleslets it defend its self , by predator that want

to eat it, it also shoots out green slime which is hard to

take of.And then it gets away.It also has eyes on top of

it head this is why it is able o survive in the deep sea vent.

Giant tube worms were discovered in 170 but they kept on

on studying about them all the way to 250.Giant tube worms

are one-thousand five hundred meters long.Giant tube worms

eat a type of chemical that come out of a hydro-thermal vent .

Yeti crab's are huge crabs, and it feeds of hydro-thermal vent

with its arms which are long and harry and the food gets stuck

to it fur and eat it.Yeti crab's are mostly blind and can not see

very well, but they smell and know where they are. Most crab's

use their claw's for putting them on top of the hydro-thermal

vent's they are able to do that because they have fur like little

spike and they are able to grab the the it's food that come out

of vent's.

maxresdefault (1).jpg

Spider crabs are huge crabs that have eight legs it is not a

spider but it may look like one the only thing is that it is huge

sometime it may attack submarines so it is way better to stay

out of it's teritory

Colossal squids are huge squid's that can resist a lot of water

weight and it can cause great battles between a sperm whales

and it defends its self by sharp end on it tenticles, most fight's.

take place in the ocean deep.

polluted ocean.jpg

The current problem of the deep sea vent is the pollution because the pollution dose not only

stay in the surface.

Scientists can not do a full research on the deep sea vent because the water pressure is to

strong, which means the water is to heavy that it might crush the submarine.

Dragon fish are creatures that live in dark part because they have a light in the point of it's

trap it eat tiny creatures that eat light so the dragon fish eats it because the creature eat's

light so it will earn more light to get more creatures. The dragon fish has a little light that

other creature can not see the light is under his eyes so it uses the front light as a trap

and the little one under its eyes are to see in the dark so it uses the front as a trap for

food.It is 2-50 centimeter,it will eat what ever it fit in his mouth,It lives in deep, and dark

ocean (1500 meters-4500 meters). The only thing it uses to survive is biomolumines.

A siphonophore is a creature that lives in the darkest part's of the ocean.

If a siphonophore went to far to the surface it will get bigger and bigger

then it will burst. The siphonophore's has stingers as tenticles.

Siphonophore's can grow up to be 40 meter's long and the lenghts of

of 130.

Ten Ways Kids Can Save The Earth
  • Pay attention to how you use water
  • Leave your car at home
  • Walk or ride your bike to work, school and anywhere you can
  • Recycle you can help reduce pollution just by putting that soda can in a different bin
  • Compost
  • You can save energy and money
  • You'll help reduce pollultion
  • Clean up the trash on the street

Facts about deep sea vent by Emanuel Polley
  1. most are found at an averege deth of about 2,100 meters [7,000ft] in area of sea floor of sea floor spreading along the mid ocean ridge system.
  2. a hydrothermal vent is a geyser that is located on the floor of the sea,the first such vent was discovered in 1977 on the floor of the pacific ocean.
  3. hydrothermal vents are like geysers or hot springs on the ocean floor, along mid ocean ridges where terctonic plates spread apart, magma rises and volcanic mountain chains.
  4. hydrothermal vent are the result of seawater percolating down through fissures in the ocean crust in the vicinity of spreading centers or subduction zones [places on earth where two tectonic plates move away or toward one another.]
  5. the cold seawater is heated by hot magma and reemerges to form the vents, sea water in hydrothermal vents may reach temperaturues of over 700 fahrenhei

  1. Ecosystem is a system a of living thing that interact with each other and with the physical world.

  2. A group of individual of the same species of organisms that occupy the same area, using the same resources and acted upon by the same environmental.
  3. community is a group of people who share the same things such as where they live, work and play.it is also a place where people solve problems together.
  4. A habitat is a place where animals and plants are found living.
  5. it is best described as offering a service to select clientele in an area that you specialize in.
  6. A biome is a region of earth where the climate determine the types of plant that live there.the plants determine the types of animals.

My name is emanuel polley from class 5-3 and this is what i learned about deep sea vent. The first thing i learned is that most are found at an average deth of about 2,100 meters [7,000ft] in areas of sea floor spreading along the mid-ocean ridge system..The next thing i learned is that a hydrothermal vent are like geysers or hot springs,on the ocean floor.along mid-ocean ridges where terctonic plates spread apart, magma rises and cools to form new crust and volcanic mountain chains. The third thing i learned is that a hydrothermal vent is a geysers that is located on the floor of sea.the first search vent was discovered in the 1977 on the floor pacific ocean. Also there was a fish that was found in the deep sea.The Anglerfish was find in 1600 feet deep in the ocean,it was has a little spin that it uses to attract fish to eat.It has a very big stomamic,it can eat fish that is twis it size. The fish's spin's on it spin help him walk under water. The first 200 meters of the ocean are the open ocean.Much of marine life we know of live here where there is light.Below 200 meters where there is little light left, you enter the twilight zone.Once you pass 1000 meters the water is completely devoid of light and you have reached the deep ocean

How do living organisms produce light?

While deep areas of the ocean are almost completely dark, light still plays an important role in these environments. The ability of an organism to create its own light could put it at a competitive advantage in situations such as during the hunt food and evading predators.

What is bioluminescence?

Bioluminescence is a chemical process that allows living thing to produce light. On land, fireflies are one of bioluminescence in the ocean, bioluminescence creatures can be found from the surface all the way down to the deep sea floor. And the vast majority of ocean animals, from bacteria to shark, include some members who make light.Possibly as much as 90% of creatures in the deep ocean produce light. Some animals use it to warn or evade predator to lure or detect prey,or to communicate with each other.

Facts about the Jellyfish

jellyfish or jellies are softbodied,free-swimming aquatic animals with a gelatinous umbrella-shaped bell and trailing tentacles. The bell can pulsate to acquire propulsion and locomotion.Jellyfish and jellylike sea sea creature come in an immensely diverse range of forms.Animals that are typically called jellyfish belong to the phylum cnidaria, which includes over 10,000 species. However, some jelly-like animals, like the comp jelly, belong to the phylum ctenophora.

  1. what is a Ecosystem
An ecosystem includes all of the living things (plants, animals and organisms) in a given area, interacting with each other, and also with their non-living environments ( weather, earth, sun, soil, climate, atmosphere).

2.what is a Biome
A biome is a large region of Earth that has a certain climate and certain types of living things. Major biomes include tundra, forests, grasslands, and deserts. The plants and animals of each biome have traits that help them to survive in their particular biome.

3.what is a Habitat

A habitat is a place that an animal lives. It provides the animal with food, water and shelter. There are many different sorts of habitats around the world from forests to grasslands and from mountain slopes to deserts. Different habitat are home to different animals.

4.what is a Community

People in communities might go to the same schools, shop in the same stores and do the same things. They also help each other and solve problems together. They share your ideas and probably go to the same school. Your neighborhood is a Community.

Industrial trawlers once avoided coral reefs and other rocky regions of the ocean floor because their nets would snag and tear. But the introduction of rockhopper trawls in the 1980s changed this. These trawls are fitted with large rubber tires or rollers that allow the net to pass easily over any rough surface. The largest, with heavy rollers over 75cm in diameter, are very powerful, capable of moving boulders weighing 25 tons

5.what is a Niche

An ecological niche is the part of the environment into which a species fits, and to which it is adapted. A shorthand definition of niche in biology is how an organism makes a living in a place. However, the term has been used in different ways.

6.what is a Food Web

There are many different food chains within each habitat. Some animals, such as foxes, eat a variety of foods, so chains can be interconnected to form a food web. In a food web, large numbers of different herbivores feed on plants. The plants get their energy from the Sun.

7.what is Food Chain

A food chain shows how each living thing gets food, and how nutrients and energy are passed from creature to creature. Food chains begin with plant-life, and end with animal-life. Some animals eat plants, some animals eat other animals. A simple food chain could start with grass, which is eaten by rabbits

8.what is a Decomposer
Producers, Consumers and Decomposers Game! Fungi and bacteria play an important role in nature. They break down the unused dead material and turn them into nutrients in the soil, which plants use to grow. They are an important part of the food chain

9.what is a producer

Plants are called producers. This is because they produce their own food! They do this by using light energy from the Sun, carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil to produce food - in the form of glucouse/sugar. The process is called photosynthesis. ... Animals that eat both animals AND plants.

10.what is a Carnivore

A carnivore is an animal that gets food from killing and eating other animals. Carnivores generally eat herbivores, but can eat omnivores, and occasionally other carnivores.

Now lets see how to protect earth with these handy tips.

1. Pay attention to how you use water. The little things can make a big difference. Every time you turn off the water while you're brushing your teeth, you're doing something good. Got a leaky toilet? You might be wasting 200 gallons (757 liters) of water a day.Try drinking tap water instead of bottled water, so you aren't wasting all that packaging as well. Wash your clothes in cold water when you can.

2. Recycle. You can help reduce pollution just by putting that soda can in a different bin. If you're trying to choose between two products, pick the one with the least packaging. If an office building of 7,000 workers recycled all of its office paper waste for a year, it would be the equivalent of taking almost 400 cars off the road

3. Compost. Think about how much trash you make in a year. Reducing the amount of solid waste you produce in a year means taking up less space in landfills, so your tax dollars can work somewhere else. Plus, compost makes a great natural fertilizer. Composting is easier than you think.

4.Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office

5.Recycle.You can help reduce pollution just by putting that soda can in a different bin. If you're trying to choose between two products, pick the one with the least packaging. If an office building of 7,000 workers recycled all of its office paper waste for a year, it would be the equivalent of taking almost 400 cars off the road [source: EPA].

6.Compost. Think about how much trash you make in a year. Reducing the amount of solid waste you produce in a year means taking up less space in landfills, so your tax dollars can work somewhere else. Plus, compost makes a great natural fertilizer. Composting is easier than you thin

7.Leave your car at home. If you can stay off the road just two days a week, you'll reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 1,590 pounds (721 kilograms) per year [source: EPA]. Combine your errands -- hit the post office, grocery store and shoe repair place in one trip. It will save you gas and time

8.Maintain your vehicle by regularly checking the air filter and giving it a clean. This will help your car more efficiently. It’s also important to inflate your tyres to a specific pressure as it reduces tyre-wear and helps the fuel economy.

9.Have A Vegetarian Day You don’t have to give up meat for life, but try to commit to one meat free day a week. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef. And each hamburger that comes from animals on ex-forestry ground is responsible for the destruction of fifty-five square feet of forest.

If you’re not using your fireplace at any given time, keep the damper closed. Having the damper open is like having a forty-eight inch window open all the time! Image the hundreds of dollars you are wasting on heating air that then gets sucked up your chimney. ;D

Life on earth is a complex set of delicately balanced ecosystems. In some ways, it represents a house of cards. Almost every one of the millions of uniquely patterned cards supports others. Some are beautiful and others are plain. Regardless of where they sit or how they look, they are all connected.

Humanity sits proudly at the top of this house. Below us are the millions of unique species – plants, animals, fungi, and others – which all have a role in supporting us. From time to time a species dies out from, for example, disease, decreasing habitat, or human use. Every time this happens, our world is weakened.

Occasionally an ecosystem collapses with dramatic effects. This process is speeding up. Scientists and concerned individuals are hard at work finding out as much as they can about the natural world. The more we learn, the more clearly we can see what must be done. Rolex, through its Awards for Enterprise, supports this critical work to protect the precious flora and fauna upon which our world is built.

Facts about Deep Sea Vent by Ashlee Savage:1 .The Bizarre red-and-white worms can be two meters (six feet ) tall and have no mouth or stomach. They rely on Bacteria living inside them to convert chemicals into food.

2.The Bristled-covered worms can survive in hotter conditions than any other animal. They live inside vent chimneys, where its over 80 degrees fahrenheit)!

3.Adult vent crabs have eye sight similar to military night - vision goggles to help them see ocean depths of 2.7 kilometers (1.7 miles).

And 11 on this expedition were all made on the Mariana back-arc, a deep rift valley where seafloor spreading is occurring and volcanic eruptions provide the heat to create hydrothermal vents and their unique biological communities.
These three dives build upon recent discoveries that were made during an expedition last December on R/V Falkor and supported by the Schmidt Ocean Institute and the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. On that cruise, a science team from Oregon State University, University of Washington, and NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Lab searched for new hydrothermal vent sites along 600 kilometers of previously unexplored Mariana back-arc.
That expedition found four new hydrothermal vent sites, and by chance, also discovered a recent eruption site with lava flows that were emplaced between 2013 and 2015. The Deep water Exploration of the Marianas expedition provided an opportunity to conduct the first detailed remotely operated vehicle (ROV) explorations of these sites using NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer and the Deep Discoverer remotely operated vehicle rov

My summary on the deep sea vent

What is an ecosystem –is a biological environment consisting of all the organisms living in a particular area as well as all the nonliving, physical components of the environment with which the organisms interact, such as air, soil, water and sunlight.

A hydrothermal vent is a geyser on the sea floor. It continuously spews super hot mineral rich water that helps support a diverse community of organisms. Although most of the deep sea is sparsely populated vent sites teem with a fascinating array of life. Tubeworms and huge clams are the most distinctive inhabitants of Pacific Ocean vent sites while eyeless shrimp are found only at vents in the Atlantic Ocean. Most are found at an average depth of about 2,100 meters [7,000 ft] in areas of seafloor spreading along the mid-ocean ridge system-the underwater mountain chain that snakes its way amount the world.

What Are Deep Sea Vents?
It is a concern that citizens already are touring the Titanic and some Atlantic vent sites with deep-diving submersibles. When Yellowstone Park - which features geothermal geysers analogous to deep-sea vents - was established in the mid-1800s, no ordinary person could get there because it was a four-day trip by horse from the nearest rail line, but roughly 3 million visited Yellowstone last year. --Steve-Scott
Imagine your home is in deep sea veknts. Your pan for frying eggs is a rock chimney that is as tall as a building. Your television is showing two football teams with the football being giant tubeworms. Your garden holds sea dandelions. The water is oxygen. You’re freezing to death. Tho''-O

dAg but inky blackness. Their only light bulb that’s not an idea is a Biolumines-cence creature or like the fish that had that glowing thing in Nemo. The trip to the bottom of the ocean floor is about 1.5 hour. Dropping down takes a lot of steering. HUMPH! The pilot grunts with effort thinking about all the possible reasons he is using all his energy.
How to make a deep sea vents ecosystem:
Do it yourself
Make a model of the hot water of a deep sea vent in the cold water of the ocean.

  • Make your own deep sea vent
Make your own deep sea vent
    One large glass container
  • One small bottle
  • Food coloring
  • A piece of string
  • Hot and cold water

Fill the large glass container with very cold water.
Tie one end of the string around the neck of the small bottle.
Fill the small bottle with hot water and add a few drops of food coloring.
Keeping the small bottle upright, carefully lower it into the glass container until it rests on the bottom.
Watch what happens. What does this tell you about deep sea vents? external image moz-screenshot-15.pngexternal image moz-screenshot-16.pngexternal image moz-screenshot-17.pngexternal image moz-screenshot-18.pngexternal image moz-screenshot-19.pngexternal image moz-screenshot-20.png

The deep sea is the lowest layer in the ocean, existing blow the thermocline and above the seabed, at a depth of 1,000 fathoms [1800m] or more. Little or no light penetrates this area of the ocean, and most of its organisms rely on falling organic matter produced in the photic zone for subsistence. For this reason scientists assumed life would be sparse in the deep ocean, but virtually every probe has revealed that, on the contrary, life is aburdant in the deep ocean. Form the time of pliny until the expedition in the ship challenger between 1872 and 1876 to prove pliny wrong., its deep sea dredges and trawls brought up living things from all depths that could be reached. Yet even in the twentieth century scientists continued to imagine that life at great depth was insubstantial, or somehow inconsequential. The eternal dark, the almost inconceivable pressure, and the extreme cold that exist below one thousand meters were, they thought, so forbidding as to have all but extinguished life. The reverse is in fact true [below 200 meters] lies the largest habits on earth.

Hello my name is Hugo Angulo, I am studying the deep sea vents I hope you enjoy my details on the topic .Also I am not the only one who will be on the topic or the first as you can see but, I picked this topic since I saw it was the most difficult I took the challenge. Not only that ,I also like the deep sea ecosystem because I noticed that all the glory of the fish are in the bottom of the sea not the top.

The Summary of the deep sea vent

In 1977,at the Galapagos Rift off the coast of South America ,a chain of volcanoes along the sea floor[8000 feet underwater] interests geologists that studies hydrothermal vents. Do you that huge red-tipped tube worms, ghostly fish, strange shrimp with eyes on their back,
giant tube worms, clams, atlantic hagfish, coelacanth, chambered nautilus, deep sea anglerfish , deep sea dragonfish, fangtooth, firefly squid, and giant isopod and many more species live in the deep sea vent.

This is a biogeochemical cycle diagram

In 1993, there has been more than 100 gastropod animals were known to occur in hydrothermal vents. Over 300 new species have been discovered at deep sea vent, many of them "sister species" to others found in geographically separated vent areas. It has been proposed that before the North American plate overrode the mid ocean ridge, there was a single biogeographic vent region found in the eastern Pacific. The subsequent barrier to travel began the evolutionary divergence of species in different locations. The examples of convergent evolution seen between distinct hydrothermal vents is seen as major support for the theory of natural selection and of evolution as a whole. Deep sea vent chimneys are a globally dispersed habitat on the seafloor associated with mid-ocean ridge (MOR) spreading centers. Active, hot, venting sulfide structures from MORs have been examined for microbial diversity and ecology since their discovery in the 1970s, and recent work has also begun to search the microbiology of inactive sulfides—structures that persist for decades to millennia and form moderate to massive deposits at and below the seafloor. To get an idea of how vast the ocean's depths are, consider that 79% of the entire volume of the earth's biosphere consists of waters with depths greater than 1000. Until recently, the deep sea was largely unexplored. But advances in suberines and image capturing and sampling technologies are increasing the opportunities for marine biologists to observe and uncover the mysteries of the deep ocean reachfrom the web page:www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthpicturegalleries/8445782/Luminous-creatures-Glowing-deep-sea-creatures-photographed-by-Joshua-Lambus.html?image=1

More facts about the deep sea vent by Naomi

-Scientists first discovered hydrothermal vents in 1977 while exploring an oceanic spreading ridge near the Galapagos Islands.
-Their amazement scientists also found that hydrothermal vents were surrounded by large numbers of organisms that never been seen before -
-These biological communities depend upon chemical processes that result from the interaction of seawater and hot magma associated with underwater volcanoes.
-They wondered how deep-ocean temperatures could change so drastically—from near freezing to 400 °C (750 °F)—in such a short distance. The scientists had made a fascinating discovery—deep-sea hydrothermal vents.
-Seawater circulates deep in the ocean’s crust and becomes super-heated by hot magma.

Here are pictures of the Deep Sea Vents way of food

Hello, first the inorganic materials are comsumed by symbiotic, plume, and mat-forming bacteria. Then clam and others eat the bacteria. Finaly , the octupus and eels comsume those animals.

as you can see in this picture it shows the Hydrothermal Vent Community

==what that means is all the creatures and plants like the vent fish there actually called the bottomfish ( can you believe that?) Then there's the plant called the vent plant I never really sden then my self heh
Now in this one it's called a food Web many people should know that so in the picture you can see that the octopus could eat all those animals in the deep sea

Lastly in this picture it shows animals that are eating what ever they want to it goes to the bottom to the top
