Pond Ecosystem AndrisnelyAlmonte notes:

Pond Ecosystems:

A pond is a body of water. Some can be small and some can be very large.Roots can grow throught the pond because it is 12-15 feet deep near the center. The sun can warm up the pond top to bottom, so roots and plants can grow.Items on the surface like lily pads make shade to cool off the water.Light reaches the bottom of the pond and the spots that the lily pads and buckweed or other plants shade won`t get much light. At night the pond is a good place to find many living animals ,you can find insects or plants in or out of the pond or around the pond in large groups. Birds or other animals vist the pond for rest and food. There may be fish if the pond is strong enough to last for awhile before becoming another landform like a meadow.millions of microscopic life come into the pond supplying food for the larger animals.Every plant or animal alive or not is food for some hungry creature.smaller animals or plants is eaten for food by the next larger animal of mammal.Once the largest animal is dead the smaller ones feed upon it.The process is called food chain. Abosoltely nothing is wasted in a pond by other creatures.

WHAT LIVES IN THE POND

Different kind of animals live in the pond ecosystem.Like for example fish lives in the ecosystem ,they only survive with water if you take them out for a long time they will die. There are many kinds of animals in the pond ecosystem like beavers, insects, fish, and also dragonfly`s.The pond is a habitat to water animals and insects many animals die in the pond ecosystem ,by people droping liquid ,garbage ,and paper.

POND ECOSYSTEMS
A pond is a body of water. There can be small and large ponds roots can grow under the pond up to 12-15ft.The sun can warm up the pond top to bottom. So roots and plants can grow.items on the surfaces like lilypads make shade to cool it off the water. At night the ponds the ponds cools off because of the lily pads.a pond is a very good place to find living animals.birds and other animals visit the pond for a rest in a tree or they can go find food.ponds and lakes are wet year all around. There are a lot of species in ponds and lakes.a lake is not a part of the ocean.a pond is much smaller than a lake.most ponds are man-made but a lake is natural.many ponds are seasonal ,lasting just a couple of months[such as sessile pools]while lakes may exist for hundred of years or more.ponds and lakes have a limited species diversity since they are often isolated from one another and from another water sources and lakes.

WHAT PLANT LIVE IN THE POND
Their can be plant that can live in the ponds.Like their can be submerged plants they are invaluable plants. They provide oxygen for the water and the fish and other aquatic life.they clean up the fallen nutrients.Another is a water lily's many people build ponds just to enjoy the beautiful sight of the water lily's.Their are also water lettuce they never bloom the mother and the daughter increase and eventually break off and run away from home. They make good shades for the ponds. They also die in cold weather.

WHAT KINDS OF ANIMALS LIVE IN THE PONDS
Their are even animals that live in the pond.Like dragonfly, fly, beavers.First lets start with the dragonfly's they are insects and they eat other insect in the mid air they can be found near water. The next one is a fly and they can be found throughout the world.the housefly carries disease, such as typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery, and anthrax.they carry the disease on to the food.It picks up the disease oranisms on its leg hairs or eats them.they are so gross but they are very intersting creature that makes up that creature and its little parts of body.

WHAT ANIMAL I AM STUDYING
The animal I am studying is called a Betta fish.It an intersting creature. Why because it can fight or kill with its own kind. They are so aggressive with each other. There are even very nice types of color they have beautiful color on there fins and tails. They can even live up to 2 years!!Wow that's a long times for a fish to live up to.

POND ECOSYSTEM-

A pond is a body of water. Well, there are many different kinds. Some can be small and some can be very large. Roots can grow throught the pond because it is 12-15 feet deep near the center. The sun can warm up the pond top to bottom, so roots and plants can grow. Items on the surface like lily pads make shade to cool off the water. Light reaches the bottom of the pond and the spots that the lily pads and duckweed or other plants shade won't get much light. At night the pond,of course, cools off.A pond is a good place to find many living animals. You can find insects or plants in or out of the pond or around the pond in large groups. Birds and other animals visit the pond for rest and food. There may be fish if the pond is strong enough to last for awhile before becoming coming another landform like a meadow. Millions of microscopic life come into the pond supplying food for the larger animals. Every plant or animal, alive or not, is food for some hungry creature. Smaller animals or plants is eaten for food by the next larger animal or mammal. Once the largest animal is dead the smaller ones feed upon it. This process is called the food chain. Absolutely nothing is wasted in a pond by other creatures.

"Succession" is the word that describes the changes of a pond into another type of landform, like a meadow or grassland. The changes that a pond goes through can happen over a few years or over a long time. The number of plants in a pond changes so many times it's hard to keep up with. Sometimes it can take hundreds of years for a pond to change into grasslands. In the pond's young age, living plants and dead animals build-up at the bottom slowly. (1) In time plants to grow to the shore. The animals have seeds on their fur or feet that grow into plants. The wind also can blow seeds to the shore area.(2) Now small fishes, snails, mussels, caddis flies, mayflies, dragonflies find much food to live at this pond. Some come as eggs on bird's feet or other pond visitors. Adult insects travel from pond to pond. Turtles, mice and other large animals travel by feet.(3) Junk such as plants debris, leaves, mud and sludge gather at the bottom of the pond.(4) Sooner or later pondweed becomes abundant at the bottom, and the emergent plants grow out into the pond. The pond fills in and becomes part of the meadow or grassland around it. One of the animals that may live in a pond is a turtle, the turtle is one of the most oldest animals in our planet. Most turtles have hard shells, created from their ribs, that acts as body armor. They may hide in their shell when their scared, or when they need protection.
